这次事件的起因，是东方甄选旗下的一名主播，在6月22日的户外直播中错误引用了“山河破碎”来形容云贵高原崎岖不平的地势，事件历经几度发酵，那句“山河破碎”也被舆论轮番解读，最终演变为一场突如其来的网暴。
这并非东方甄选近来唯一的“瓜”，前不久董宇辉在一场户外电台节目中表示“并不享受主播这份工作”，俞敏洪在做客物美创始人张文中直播间，被后者提问带货经验时回答到“东方甄选现在做得乱七八糟，没有任何向你提建议的本领”。
